Import - Export Application

The Import - Export Application allows to export one or several pages from your wiki into a XAR file or to import one or several pages from an existing XAR file in order to move wiki pages from one instance to another or to perform a lightweight backup of your wiki.

Import

To access the import feature UI, click the DrawerMenuIcon.png button to open the drawer menu, then click on "Administer Wiki". In the wiki preferences page, click on "Content" in the accordion menu to the left, then on "Import".

The File Upload widget provides an interactive upload User Interface in order to enhance the HTML input elements of type file. To learn more about the configuration options, go to the "HTML 5 File Upload Widget" documentation page listed in the "Related Pages" section under "Developer Guide".

Click on the XAR in the "Available Packages" section

and you should soon see the preselected page list of your XAR. If you don't want to preserve the page history, the newly imported pages will have the revision set to "1.1". In case you want to keep the author of the imported pages, check the "Import as backup package" option.

Finally, click on the "Import" button to confirm. If successful, you will see a list of installed and skipped pages (if any).

The resulting XAR file is in fact a renamed ZIP format with a package.xml file containing metadata about the export. A typical XAR created when doing an export will include all the pages on your XWiki instance grouped by folders, one for each location.
